Les 3 Vallées, France, part of the Epic Pass, delivered an unforgettable day of powder skiing, according to a recent report. Despite a less-than-enthusiastic start from his crew, Miles Clark from SnowBrains.com ventured out early and was rewarded with fresh snow and uncrowded slopes.
Arriving at the gondola just before 9:00 AM, Clark quickly made his way to the Signal chair. Finding it initially closed, he struck up a conversation with another skier named Eric. This chance encounter led to a day of exploring untouched powder stashes together. According to the Snowbrains report, the pair ventured into a tree skiing zone that Clark had scouted the previous day, navigating through a whiteout above the treeline.
Here's a breakdown of the experience:
- New Snow: Approximately 12–18 inches of fresh powder.
- Terrain: A mix of spaced trees and bushes with incredible snow, alongside tighter trees with less snowpack.
- Crowds: Virtually non-existent, allowing for exclusive access to powder runs.
Once a key chairlift opened, Clark and Eric enjoyed steep, short powder runs, having the entire area to themselves. They systematically skied the zone, ensuring they hit all the best spots without competition. The day concluded with two chairlifts' worth of powder thoroughly tracked out, and a sense of contentment.
The day didn't end on the slopes. Clark capped off the experience with tapas and the company of some lively locals, further enhancing the experience.
The author credits a new friendship with enhancing the experience, paving the way for future adventures in the area. According to the original report, the day was a testament to the potential for incredible, uncrowded skiing in Les 3 Vallées, even on a powder day.
