Verbier boasts a long ski season, sometimes up to six months. The Lac des Vaux area opened on weekends in November and is scheduled to operate daily from the first weekend in December through the end of April 2026. The resort's high altitude and extensive snowmaking capabilities (covering 63% of the ski area) provide reliable snow conditions throughout the season, according to PlanetSKI.

The Verbier – Val de Bagnes – La Tzoumaz area is part of the 4 Vallées, Switzerland’s largest ski area, offering a total of 410km of pistes. The area includes six villages: Le Châble, Verbier, Haut Val de Bagnes, Bruson, Vollèges, and La Tzoumaz. Each village offers a unique experience.

Verbier is popular with UK visitors, offering 5,000 chalet beds and 1,300 hotel beds. Beyond skiing, the resort offers various snow activities.

Here's what's new for the 2025/2026 season:

  • Les Esserts-Savoleyres Télémixte Lift: The upper section of the gondola to Savoleyres, called the Les Esserts-Savoleyres Télémixte Lift (combined chairlifts and gondolas), is scheduled to open this winter. The lower section will follow next winter. This lift aims to improve the connection between the Verbier and Savoleyres – La Tzoumaz sectors, which were previously connected only by bus.
  • New Lac II Chairlift: Replacing the old Lac II lift, this new chairlift will connect Lac des Vaux to the Col de Chassoure and its freeride itineraries. The goal is to improve access between different sectors of the 4 Vallées ski area.
  • Le Chaman Restaurant: Opening in December 2025, Le Chaman is a new high-end restaurant located on the site of the former Chez Martin in Verbier. The bistronomic restaurant will feature local, seasonal produce and offer après-ski cocktails, elegant dinners, and year-round events. It will also feature a sun-baked terrace with views of the Alps.
  • Cabane Mont Fort 100th Anniversary: Cabane Mont Fort, located at 2,457 meters, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. The mountain refuge was originally built in 1925 by the Jaman section of the Swiss Alpine Club. A traditional mass and torchlit descent are planned for December 13th to celebrate the anniversary.

End-of-Season Events: From April 1-30, 2026, Verbier will host a program of activities and events, including festivals, concerts, immersive games, and bar closing parties.

PlanetSKI notes that Verbier is known as the cradle of Swiss skiing, offering skiing, luxurious accommodation, and gastronomy in the Alps.
