According to the latest data from OnTheSnow, Alta Ski Area is winding down its winter season with stable conditions. As of April 24, the resort reports a base depth of 79 inches. While this is slightly below the historical average of 84 inches for this time of year, it represents 94% of the typical coverage, ensuring that late-season enthusiasts can still find significant snow across the mountain.

Operations are currently scaled for the end-of-season period. Guests visiting the resort will find 5 of the 8 total lifts spinning, providing access to 110 out of the 118 available runs. This 93% terrain accessibility indicates that the majority of the resort remains open for those looking to capitalize on the final days of the season before the projected April 26 closing.

Located at the peak of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta remains a premier destination for skiers. The mountain offers 2,614 acres of skiable terrain. Known for its skier-only policy, Alta maintains a unique culture that prioritizes the quality of the descent. The terrain distribution is heavily favored toward intermediate and advanced skiers, with 55% of the mountain categorized as advanced, 30% as intermediate, and 15% as beginner-friendly.

For families and those seeking a more relaxed pace, the Albion Base remains the hub for beginner instruction and accessibility. The Alf Engen Ski School continues to provide support, and the resort’s layout—connecting the Albion and Wildcat base areas via a rope tow—remains a functional feature for navigating the mountain. As the resort approaches its final operating day, visitors are encouraged to check local weather forecasts, as early spring in the Wasatch can bring fluctuating conditions.
