Arapahoe Basin, widely regarded as the crown jewel of late-season skiing in the Rockies, has officially announced it will conclude its 2025-26 operations on Sunday, May 3. According to reports from SnowBrains, this decision marks the end of a grueling yet productive 194-day season for the Colorado resort.
The current winter season has been defined by significant meteorological challenges. With warm temperatures and a historically low snowpack across the region, the resort’s ability to remain open until May is a testament to its aggressive snow management strategies. Despite the difficult conditions, Arapahoe Basin successfully maintained its status as the longest-running ski operation in the state of Colorado for another year.
In a public statement regarding the closure, resort representatives noted that Mother Nature has dictated the end of the winter cycle due to the dwindling snowpack. While the season is coming to a close earlier than some enthusiasts might hope, the resort is shifting its focus toward a celebratory final weekend.
To encourage a strong finish, the resort has lowered daily lift ticket prices to $39 through the final day of operations. The base area will feature live entertainment, including performances by Moonstone Quill on May 2 and Don Fuego on May 3, both scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. While the resort is opting not to host its traditional themed days this year, management is encouraging guests to embrace the festive spirit by dressing up for the final runs of the season.
This conclusion reflects the mountain's character: resilient, pragmatic, and entirely beholden to the natural elements. While the lack of late-season snow has curtailed the usual calendar of themed events, the resort’s ability to stretch 194 days out of a challenging winter underscores its reputation as a premier destination for dedicated skiers.
