According to reports from PlanetSKI, UK skiers will have more options for reaching Norwegian slopes next winter as Crystal Ski Holidays launches a new charter flight from Birmingham to Oslo. This move reflects a broader trend of increasing popularity for Scandinavian ski destinations among British travelers.
The service will be operated by TUI Airways. The inaugural flight is scheduled for December 13, 2026, with the final outbound service set for February 14, 2027. This weekly route complements TUI’s existing services from London Gatwick and Manchester, further strengthening the connection between the UK and Norwegian ski regions.
Trevor de Villiers, CEO of Norway Home of Skiing, noted that the expansion is a direct response to the high demand from British tourists. He highlighted the reliability of Norway's snow cover and the competitive value of ski-in, ski-out accommodation as key drivers for this growth. The expansion makes it significantly easier for skiers based in the Midlands to access resorts including Gausta, Norefjell, Geilo, and Beitostølen.
Beyond the skiing, these resorts are highly regarded for their family-friendly atmosphere and wide, quiet slopes. Visitors are also drawn to the unique "winter wonderland" experience that includes activities such as ice fishing, snowmobiling, and the possibility of witnessing the Northern Lights.
Scott Britton, Head of Crystal Ski Holidays, emphasized that the company is prioritizing flexibility and choice to ensure travelers have access to these diverse experiences. As the market for Norwegian ski holidays continues to climb, industry experts suggest that the combination of accessible travel and high-quality, uncrowded terrain is a winning formula for families and beginners alike.
