A prominent fixture in the British snow sports scene, the Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre, has been listed for sale. According to a report by Patrick Thorne for InTheSnow, the facility is currently being marketed by Knightsbridge Commercial with an asking price of £625,000.
The centre holds a significant place in British skiing history, most notably as the training ground for Michael 'Eddie the Eagle' Edwards during his formative years. First established in 1973, the site features a 260m slope—one of the longest in England and Wales—which was retrofitted with Dendix matting in 1977.
Despite its age, the facility remains a robust commercial operation. The listing highlights an annual turnover exceeding £842,000 and an asset register valued at approximately £1.6m. Beyond the primary slope, the property includes a functional cafe, a bar, a retail shop, and repair facilities. It continues to be a hub for events and educational partnerships across the UK.
Centre manager Cameron Singer confirmed to the BBC that the current owner intends to step away from the business to focus on other primary interests. While an initial private sale process did not reach completion, the decision to list the property publicly is intended to broaden the search for a buyer who will ideally preserve the centre’s long-standing role as a community hub for skiing and snowboarding.
Reflecting on the news, Eddie the Eagle shared his support for the venue’s future. In his statement to the BBC, he expressed a desire for the site to remain operational, noting that it served as his 'home' during his youth and remains a place he visits periodically.
