According to reports from SnowBrains, Mammoth Mountain is experiencing a remarkable late-season resurgence. After a spring that began with uncertainty and mild conditions, the Sierra Nevada resort has been revitalized by a series of significant storm systems.

In the last 24 hours, the mountain recorded between 12 and 16 inches of fresh snow. This brings the total accumulation for April to 46 inches, nearly hitting the four-foot mark. This influx of precipitation has fundamentally altered the mountain's character, shifting the terrain from traditional spring corn snow to conditions more typical of mid-winter.

With this new coverage, Mammoth is currently maintaining more than 100 open trails. The resort has confirmed that these conditions are sufficient to extend operations through at least Memorial Day weekend. This extension reinforces the resort’s status as a premier destination for late-season skiing in North America.

The significance of this late-season surge is tied to Mammoth's geography. The resort's high base elevation allows it to retain snow on north-facing aspects long after lower-altitude mountains have ceased operations. While spring often brings a transition toward variable surface conditions, these recent storms have provided a buffer that allows for high-quality riding well into the final weeks of May.

For those planning a visit, the current situation offers the ideal combination of longer daylight hours and deep-winter snow coverage. While it is unclear if further storms will arrive to extend the season beyond Memorial Day, the mountain is currently well-positioned to offer a strong finish to the season.
