The line between the manufacturing floor and the social scene has blurred in Denver, Colorado. According to a report by SnowBrains, Meier Skis—a manufacturer recognized for its focus on sustainable ski construction—has officially opened a new onsite bar called The Couloir. Located within the company's Denver factory, the venue aims to provide an 'après-ski' atmosphere that serves the community year-round.
This space is being marketed as the world's first 'Craft Skiery.' The standout feature of The Couloir is its architectural design, which incorporates large interior windows. These windows allow visitors to observe the manufacturing team as they press skis, utilizing materials like beetle-kill pine and Colorado aspen. This transparency is central to the brand's mission of making the technical side of the sport accessible to the public.
Ted Eynon, CEO of Meier Skis, emphasized in the announcement that the goal was to create a space that captures the camaraderie of the slopes. By integrating a bar into the factory, the company hopes to provide a venue where enthusiasts can discuss everything from powder conditions to upcoming outdoor adventures while witnessing the creation of the equipment they use on the mountain.
The venue currently operates with a rotating menu of local wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails, such as the 'Meier Mule.' To encourage consistent traffic, the bar offers two daily happy hour windows: a BOGO offer on well drinks and drafts from 12 pm to 4 pm, and a discount on menu board items from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Looking ahead, the company has indicated that this is only the first phase of their development at the 1775 South Broadway site. Plans are already in motion to expand the facility to include an outdoor area, which will feature elevated decking and natural landscaping to further enhance the alpine-inspired aesthetic. For those interested in a more technical look at the production process, guided tours of the factory remain available by appointment outside of the bar's social hours.
