As the 2026 winter season draws to a close, the Scottish Highlands have delivered some of the most impressive spring skiing conditions in recent years. According to reporting by Dianne and Rod Frazer for PlanetSKI, the region benefited from late-season "lambing storms," which provided a fresh top-up of snow just in time for the Easter period.
Cairngorm Mountain Conditions
Cairngorm has stood out as a highlight this season. Access to the upper slopes has been streamlined by the funicular, allowing skiers to reach the high-altitude terrain with ease. The 'White Lady' run, in particular, has been in stellar condition, offering wide, consistent cover that the reporters noted as being among the best seen in years. Beyond the groomed runs, the resort continues to cater to a variety of skill levels, featuring an extensive snow park for freestyle enthusiasts.

Glencoe Mountain Developments
Glencoe also provided a strong experience for advanced and expert skiers. While snow coverage at the mid-mountain level was reportedly thin, the upper reaches of the resort remained fully open with excellent snow quality. The mountain offered a healthy mix of groomed and ungroomed terrain.
Looking ahead, Glencoe is doubling down on its infrastructure. During the PlanetSKI team's visit, a second snow factory was being delivered to the site. Andy Meldrum, the head of Glencoe mountain, indicated that this, combined with a new rope-tow, will allow for an expanded beginner and sledging hub. This initiative is designed to diversify the resort's offering, providing a sustainable income stream through family-focused activities.

Final Thoughts
The 2026 season has been marked by a significant build-up of snow, attributed to consistent easterly weather patterns earlier in the year. For those who enjoy quieter slopes and the unique challenge of Scottish terrain, the spring period has proven to be a rewarding time to visit the Highlands.
