While the majority of the ski industry has packed away their gear for the season, a dedicated group of resorts across the United States is keeping the lifts spinning well into May. According to reports from SnowBrains, the 2026 spring season is offering a unique blend of late-season riding and holiday festivities, particularly for those looking to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on the slopes.
Palisades Tahoe in California is leading the charge with a festive atmosphere in The Village. Following a snowy April that brought 84 inches of fresh accumulation, the resort is confident in at least three more weeks of operations. Guests at the Tremigo Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar can expect a full slate of specials, including taco deals and discounted beverages, as the resort leans into the spring vibe.
On the East Coast, Camelback Mountain in Pennsylvania is making a rare mid-May appearance. According to VP and GM Jason Bays, the resort is opening specifically for a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Tuesday, May 5, offering a mix of skiing and traditional festive fare from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For those prioritizing vertical feet over festivities, several other resorts remain active. Arapahoe Basin in Colorado has extended its season through May 10, though they are observing a mid-week closure from May 4 to May 7. Similarly, Vermont’s Jay Peak and Killington are shifting to weekend-focused operations to preserve their remaining snow. In the West, Mammoth Mountain continues to operate 10 lifts, citing a deep base of 4 to 10 feet, while Timberline Lodge in Oregon remains committed to its long-standing tradition of summer skiing, with a target closing date in July.
